Fortune Telling

Astrology basically is a set of beliefs and traditions which states that the position and motion of stars/planets at the time of your birth profoundly affect what happens in your lifetime.

A Few thousand years ago this system was actually used by kings and emperors to determine crucial decisions for their kingdom or country. Astrologers determined their predictions by observing the sky. For example, if something happened when Venus was in a particular location in the sky, they would assume that something similar will happen once it gets to the same location again. Astrology was so serious that Chinese astrologers where executed if their predictions failed to happen. So most astrologers were just forced to say whatever their leader wants to hear or assess the situation and find the most probable outcome. Not much of a star gazing anymore is it?

For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Christ (son of God),’ and will deceive many Matthew 24:5

He replied: “Watch out that you are not deceived. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’ and, ‘The time is near.’ Do not follow them. Luke 21:8

At that time if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or, ‘Look, there he is!’ do not believe it. For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform signs and miracles to deceive the elect–if that were possible. So be on your guard; I have told you everything ahead of time. Mark 13:6; 21-22

For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough. 2 Corinthians 11:4

So if you are one of those people who follows someone that claims he is the resurrection of Jesus, Son of God or whatever you call that invisible guy, my question is:

Why do you still pray when you already know that God has a Divine Plan for everyone?

AN ATHEIST IN THE WOODS
An atheist was walking through the woods.
‘What majestic trees!
‘What powerful rivers!
‘What beautiful animals!
He said to himself!
As he was walking alongside the river,
he heard a rustling in the bushes behind him.
He turned to look. He saw a 7-foot grizzly bear charge towards him.

He ran as fast as he could up the path. He looked over his shoulder
& saw that the bear was closing in on him.

He looked over his shoulder again, & the bear was even closer.

He tripped & fell on the ground.

He rolled over to pick himself up but saw that the bear was right on top of him, reaching for him with his left paw & raising his right paw to strike him.
At that instant the Atheist cried out, ‘Oh my God!’
Time Stopped.
The bear froze.
The forest was silent.
As a bright light shone upon the man, a voice came out of the sky.
‘You deny my existence for all these years, teach others I don’t exist and even credit creation to cosmic accident.’
‘Do you expect me to help you out of this predicament?
Am I to count you as a believer?
The atheist looked directly into the light, ‘It would be hypocritical of me to suddenly ask you to treat me as a Christian now, but perhaps you could make the BEAR a Christian’?
‘Very Well,’ said the voice.
The light went out. The sounds of the forest resumed. And the bear dropped his right paw, brought both paws together, bowed his head & spoke:

‘Lord bless this food, which I am about to receive from thy bounty through Christ our Lord, Amen.’

Remember to keep holy the Sabbath day.

I’d like to start my blog with this post because incidentally today is Sunday.

List of things I did today:

  • Made this blog
  • Made this post
  • Surfed the internet
  • Worked on my freelance job.
  • Did not go to church.

So maybe I violated the 4th commandment.  It got me thinking about this passage from the bible  – Exodus 31:15
What does that mean?
